Fort Lauderdale Vacation- Stay, Eat, Play

Please note I may have been hosted at any of the following but regardless all opinions and statements are my own.

Hello! Welcome back or welcome if you are new here! It has been a minute since I have posted! Things have been kind of crazy but that just means I have more content to write about! Anyways, with that being said let’s get right into it!

If you are looking for a nice vacation within the US, Florida is always a great option! We recently went to Fort Lauderdale and loved it! We were pleasantly surprised with Fort Lauderdale and had a great trip. I’m going to share where we stayed, what we ate, and some things to do!

Now onto what you’re really here for!

Where To Stay

We stayed at 2 places- both incredible in their own ways. B Ocean Resort and Pelican Grand Beach Resort. Both resorts were directly on their own private beach which is super convenient!

B Ocean Resort

B Ocean is a beautiful hotel located on a private beach, and not far from the airport. The location is great! This hotel has so much to offer and the food is great! They have a signature drink that is even served in a coconut.

They have 6 dining options from bars, sit downs, and room service. The Naked Crab is a nice seafood restaurant however they also have traditional breakfast in the morning and you can also find seafood breakfast dishes. The Wreck Bar is such a unique experience. It is designed to resemble the interior of a shipwrecked Spanish Galleon, and they even have windows that go into one of the pools where they do mermaid shows! It is truly such a cool place. The Salty Siren is poolside to the infinity edge pool, so it’s very convenient for lunch if you are spending the day at the pool or beach. The Florida Bar is perfect for grabbing a drink before or after dinner. If you just want drinks and something light, they do offer some food from The Naked Crab. The Clipper Express was so nice to have as it is quick and easy and they have delicious items! We were so grateful for this the morning we checked out before heading to the airport! Lastly, they have In-Room Dining. Perfect for when you’re too tired or too sunburnt to go out for food. The menu was very extensive so there is something for everyone!

You will have many options for swimming here! They have 2 pools with one of them being an infinity edge pool (my favorite) with views of the beach. The other pool is like your typical deck pool but I found it to be much less busy then the infinity pool. So if you’re looking to have a quieter pool time, I’d definitely recommend trying that one! Both pools are great. And of course don’t forget to take advantage of the beach!

They also have complimentary bike rentals, a fitness center, and spa!

We had a great time at B Ocean Resort and loved the vibe of the hotel. It was very clean, staff was kind, overall no complaints! It is a pretty large hotel and has a very modern and coastal feel to it. Tons of places to take photos if that’s your thing!

Pelican Grand Beach Resort

Pelican Grand is a beautiful hotel. It has more of a resort feel and is an “old” classy type of style. Located on a private beach and about 25 minutes from the airport.

They have 4 dining options at the hotel. Ocean2000 is a nice sit down restaurant with indoor or outdoor seating. The outdoor seating has stunning beach views. O2K Lounge is a more casual dining option and is right next to the pool. The Emporium is a super cute old fashioned ice cream shop. It is also connected into a little store so they have everything you could need! Lastly they also have In-Room Dining for the day you don’t feel like leaving your room! All amazing options.

Spend time swimming at the beach or by the pool! They have a beautiful pool and a lazy river which I thought was so fun and unique. The resort sits right on their private beach so you are just steps away! We kept saying it felt like we were on a tropical vacation, not like we were just in Florida.

We had so much fun and thought this hotel was very unique and loved the old time/classy feel it had to it.

Overall we loved both hotels so much and they are both so unique in their own ways. You cannot go wrong with either of them, just depends what your preference is! B Ocean is an amazing and modern hotel which I think would be great for young adults and couples, but really for anyone. Pelican Grand is a lovely boutique hotel that would be great for families and couples.

Where To Eat

If you stay at either of those hotels they both have great dining options on site. But if you want to venture out into what Fort Lauderdale has to offer, here are some great options!

I have 2 favorite restaurants that we went to but my number one pick is..

15th Street Fisheries

We actually went here for our anniversary dinner and it was the best experience and the food was incredible. I will forever be coming back here if I am in the area. To start out, the restaurant is in a marina and they have 2 dining options. They have outdoor on the docks/patio which is more casual and they have an upstairs room with window views to the marina that is more of a fine dining experience. They have a gift shop out by the outdoor eating area, where you can buy frozen shrimp and feed the giant tarpon! You can walk out on the dock and they have an area in the marina where they lit up the water with green lights so you can see the fish better. Some of the tarpon are HUGE. It was such a cool experience to see them that close and be able to feed them. After that we went up to the upstairs dining and got seated and they even gave us an anniversary card! I love when businesses put in that little bit extra, it makes it so much more special. Our waiter was incredible and all the staff was so kind. They had SO many good options for food it was hard to pick. The alaskan king crab was absolutely to die for. It was a first for my husband and I trying it and we loved it. We ended up order the fried cheesecake for dessert because we both love cheesecake and it is fried in red velvet funnel cake batter which we could not pass up to try. It was phenomenal. I could go on and on about his restaurant as it truly was our favorite that we’ve probably ever been to. You need to visit if you are in the area!

Shooters Waterfront

This was our second favorite restaurant. It is on the intracoastal side so we got to see all the nice boats driving by! The outdoor patio is huge and so beautifully designed. They had so many different types of seating out there and lights all around making it so pretty at night. Our waiter was amazing and the food was incredible. If you like sushi or even if you don’t, I recommend trying the bamboo roll. It was easily the best sushi i’ve ever had. I like sushi but am pretty picky about it, and I could eat this over and over again.

World Famous

This is a super casual place but the food was really good. This place is so unique, they make non traditional egg rolls. They have so many delicious kinds! We ended up Door Dashing it to our hotel, but they have multiple locations. So good and so different, definitely recommend trying it!

Batch Southern Kitchen & Tap

This place was really cool. The indoor was a very cool taproom bar/restaurant and the outdoor was just a nice and modern patio. The food was delicious! This definitely seemed more like a place where locals go for dinner.

Spazio Italian Bistro

This place was right along Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd and Las Olas Blvd which is a super popular area. There are tons of shops and restaurants all along this street and it is right across from the beach. You could spend a whole day here at the beach and checking things out on this “boardwalk” area. The pizza was delicious here!

Things To Do

Other than the obvious of the beach, here are some ideas!

Day Cruise/Sail

There are so many different kinds and companies that do day cruises and sails. A quick Google search and you are sure to find one that consists of what you are looking for! Water Taxi is a great one to bring you around to other places too!

Rent a Jet-ski or Boat

So much fun experiencing the ocean on your own this way!

Fishing Charter

Enjoy fishing? See what cool kinds of fish you catch on a fishing charter!

Mermaid Show

Catch a mermaid show at B Ocean Resort in the Wrecked Bar! They have shows for everyone!

Paddle Boarding, Kayaking, Snorkeling, etc.

Tons of fun ways to be on the water!

Las Olas Boulevard

There is so much around here! Tons of shops, restaurants, and it’s right across from the beach too!

Flamingo Gardens

Just outside of Fort Lauderdale you can see botanical gardens and wildlife sanctuary!

Drive Around The City In Style

Rent a Polaris Slingshot on Turo and drive around and explore the city!

There are so many things to do but I hope I helped with some ideas!
